Foreword

The concept of landscape has been present in natural sciences since the times of Humboldt and Dokuchaev. The popularity of geographical research over holistically perceived landscape has originated only during the early twentieth century, especially in the second half, since the relationship of the growing demand for comprehensive studies on rationalizing the natural resources management has resulted in the significant development of tools, techniques and methodological solutions.
