Preface
There is no shortage of multiauthored books describing management of acute and chronic leukemias and myelodysplastic syndromes. However, we believe that this book has several distinctive features. All the authors are members of a single academic center. While the authors’ views on treatment approaches necessarily differ, the book’s single-center nature will hopefully provide the reader with a relatively unified approach to management. This theme is furthered by the inclusion of three chapters on the role of allogeneic transplant, befitting the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center’s long history of leadership in this discipline. There are both chapters on supportive care and on long-term complications of successful treatment, another long-standing interest of the center.
