Lack of efficacy: case report A 69-year-old-woman exhibited lack of efficacy during treatment with levodopa for atypical parkinsonism. The woman presented for stiffness and allodynia in her left arm at the age of 67 years. Bradykinesia, hypomimia and rigidity in the limbs was noted upon examination. After two years, dystonia with myoclonic tremor and hyposthesia in the left arm was noted. Also, balance disorder and falls were observed. She was referred for urge incontinence, constipation and restless legs syndrome. She was diagnosed with atypical parkinsonism. She exhibited no response to levodopa treatment [route and dosage not stated]. After five years of the diagnosis, she died of progressive supranuclear palsy. Natera-Villalba E, et al.
