Despite the interlinkage between macroprudential policy and financial stability being widely acknowledged in the literature, there are only a few in-depth studies in this area of research focusing on this relationship for Islamic financial industry. Moreover, issues pertaining to macroprudential policy influences on bank risk-taking have been given even greater attention since the financial crisis in 2008/2009. Macroprudential approaches are widely adopted by many central banks and regulators for supervision and regulation in order to maintain financial stability and, ultimately, improve social welfare by aligning private incentives with social objectives. As the Islamic banking sector assets grow rapidly, increasing its market share, it will pose higher systemic risks to the overall financial system.
