The effect of CSR on voltage harmonics in high-voltage electrical networks is considered. An An applied method of modeling an electrical network in order to calculate the CSR effect on voltage harmonics is proposed. The results of calculations of the CSRT effect on the quality indicators of electric power are presented in the frequency domain, as well results of computer modeling of transient electromagnetic processes in a network with CSRT. Calculations for the experimental datas obtained in the commissioning of the CSRT at the 330 kV Starorusskaya SS were verified. Keywords: current harmonics; power quality; controllable shunt reactor (CSR); impedance-frequency characteristic; resonance; computer simulation; experimental verification.
A controlled shunt reactor of any type is a source of higher harmonics of a current which, at first, when passing along the network, result in deformation of the voltage being normalized [4]; and second, when there is coincidence of the frequency of any of a harmonics with a pole of the impedance-frequency characteristics of the network, this is capable of producing a dangerous overload of the components of the network due to current resonance [5]. In the development of the design for installation of a CSR, there arises the problem of substantiating the failure to use filters of higher harmonics, or determining their parameters in order to ensure the absence of overruns of the higher harmonics of line voltage due to emission of the higher harmonics of the reactor current. Theoretical foundations of calculating the effect of CSR on network voltage harmonics. An estimate of the effect of sources of higher harmonics of a current on the harmonics of the network voltage can be accomplished by two calculation methods: in the frequency domain and in the state space. The first method is applied, as a rule, at the initial stage of research in order to determinate the sensitivity of network impedance to the parameters of the model. Additionally, later analysis of the mode of operation of the system being studied in the time domain can be introduced, which makes it possible to consider the effect of the harmonics on a control system of regulated devices and the other effects that are not considered in the frequency domain [6]. When voltage deformations at a network node are caused chiefly by a device connected to this node, the voltage spec-
Controlled shunt reactors (CSR) are used in order to optimize the mode of an electrical network by voltage and reactive power, as well as enhance the reliability of electric power systems [1]. Controlled shunt reactors have been used since 1998 in the electrical networks of Russia, and over 20 years more than 100 reacto
