Monosodium phosphate/disodium phosphate Colonic lesions: case report A 51-year-old man with a history of colon adenoma was hospitalised for screening colonoscopy. His preparatory regimen comprised a low-fibre diet for 3 days, and an unspecified number of monosodium phosphate/disodium phosphate tablets [Colokit] 12 hours before the intervention. Colonoscopy revealed a dozen 2–3mm red, patchy mucosal lesions 30cm from the anal margin. Biopsy specimen were consistent with mild non-specific oedematous interstitial exudative colitis. He remained asymptomatic [outcome not stated]. Author comment: "Product characteristics notice highlights the possibility of developing this kind of mucosal lesions (6%) located on sigmoid colon without any pathological significance after ingestion of Colokit® tablets."
