Bacterial and fungal sepsis: case report A 36-year-old woman developed bacterial and fungal sepsis during treatment with tacrolimus, mycophenolic acid and unspecified steroids as an immunosuppressive therapy. The woman, who was diagnosed with alveolar echinococcosis (AE) of liver with invasion of heart, had undergone combined heart‐liver transplantation (CHLT). She received treatment with triple immunosuppression protocol comprised of tacrolimus in combination with mycophenolic acid and unspecified steroids [routes and dosages not stated]. However, the postoperative period was complicated by bile leakage, which resulted in anastomotic arterial bleeding and was effectively treated by Roux‐en‐Y hepaticojejunostomy with hepatic artery reconstruction. This complication, which occurred 1 month following CHLT, resulted in fungal and bacterial sepsis on the background of immunosuppression [duration of treatments to reaction onset not stated]. The woman received long‐term antibacterial therapy and invasive systemic mycosis treatment, which resulted in the prolongation of hospitalisation for 4 months of total hospital stay [outcome not stated].
