In the second edition of Strategies for Business Model Innovation: Challenges and Visual Solutions for Strategic Business Model Innovation, the cognitive challenges identified were based on the individual level. They stated three main themes: challenges based on the complexity of the task, the existing dominant logic, and the knowledge required. If we focus on the knowledge required, it stems from communications and the human abilities, which include intuition/strength, inner clarity, wisdom, etc. Vision, leadership, and execution all ride on the back of communication. Does the leader communicate a benefit mind-set? Everyday leaders who seek to be well and do good, focus purposefully on why they do what they do and believe in developing their strengths and meaningfully contribute to a future of greater possibilities. Does the leader positively contribute to the organizational strategy? The organizational strategy historically did not include both information technology (IT) and communication departments.
