Various side effects: case report A 43-year-old woman developed nausea, anorexia, leucopenia and anaemia while receiving treatment with olaparib [route not stated] for recurrence of breast cancer. The woman, who had six years history of HIV infection, presented with right breast tumor to the hospital. She was diagnosed with right breast cancer. She started receiving doxorubicin and cyclophosphamide followed by docetaxel as postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy. However, 14 months after discontinuation of adjuvant chemotherapy. A close examination showed multiple metastases in the brain, lung, mediastinum, and lymph nodes. She was diagnosed with recurrence of metastases from breast cancer. Further, she started receiving whole brain radiotherapy followed by paclitaxel and bevacizumab combination therapy as a first line treatment for the recurrence. After 2 courses of combination therapy, new metastatic lesions were observed in the bone, liver and lymph node. Thus, second line treatment with olaparib 600 mg/day was started for recurrence. After one month, pain had improved. She developed grade 1 nausea and anorexia, grade 2 leucopenia and grade 3 anaemia as side effects of olaparib. Olaparib was discontinued, and the treatment was continued with a 1 step dose decrease from the month 3 [outcome not stated]. Yabe S, et al.
