Paroxetine Bruxism successfully treated with tandospirone in an elderly patient: case report An 81-year-old man, who had previously received sulpiride, started receiving paroxetine 10mg at bedtime for major depressive disorder. After 7 days, his paroxetine dosage was increased to 20 mg/day and, at 14-day follow-up, the dosage was further increased to 30 mg/day. At 21-day follow-up, he reported sore teeth and jaws, and ‘night-and-day jaw clenching’. He started receiving tandospirone and, within 1 week, the clenching had stopped and his sore teeth and jaws had improved. Author comment: "This case adds to the literature by suggesting that [serotonin reuptake inhibitor]-induced bruxism can be treated with tandospirone, a 5-HT1A receptor agonist." Kishi Y.
