Abstract
The airport networks need large amounts of public funds. In addition, the airport network is supported by one of the main economic activities in modern industrial societies: transfer and movement of goods and passengers. Today, the airports need pavement network management and maintenance alone is no longer of any use. The purpose of this study is to provide a method to prioritize restoration and maintenance strategies in the rigid concrete pavement through implementing the Airport Pavement Management System (APMS) technique. In this paper, the Micro PAVER, which is the most comprehensive software in pavement management, is utilized. Furthermore, the prospects of pavement management on the runway pavement of Imam Khomeini airport were investigated by assessing the status of the airport’s rigid concrete pavement and applying different scenarios and procedures of restoration and maintenance. Ultimately, prioritization strategies of restoration and maintenance on the airport’s rigid concrete pavement are proposed. 1. Introduction The guiding principle of the maintenance system is outlining and ascertaining all possible types of impairmentand the severity of various modes of demolitionthat may occur during the period of applying pavement maintenance procedures for solving the problem. A series of failures may occur in a specific area of pavement. Under such circumstances, all maintenance and restoration strategies must be precisely analyzed such that to determine which of the restoration and maintenance methods had more efficiency. One study done in testing the airport pavements is seeking out ways to measure and assess the extent of the damage. In this process, the status of pavements is evaluated by users in airports andthe extent and severity of damagesare measured by means of distinctive methods and tools. Next, the findings of these two evaluation methods are correlated with each other. In the assessment of airport pavements, a theoretical evaluation of the airport’s status is done by a group of experts trained for the intended objective [1]. Many factors are involved in the lifetime productivity of the airport’s physical facilities. The life cycle of each facility starts
with new-established facilities. These facilities change over time and finally arrive at their final level of damage. At the end, they may become modified or restored. In general, the design and planning of the facilities’ life cycle deserve much attention. Airport pavement m
