Intracerebral haematoma in elderly patients with a history of cerebral microbleeds: 2 case reports Two men with a history of stroke developed intracerebral haematomas at the site of previous microbleeds while receiving acenocoumarol or aspirin [patient outcomes not stated]. A 68-year-old man had been diagnosed with lacunar stroke after experiencing sudden left-sided weakness. He later started receiving oral acenocoumarol [dosage not stated] for paroxysmal atrial fibrillation. After 1 year of therapy, he was hospitalised with recurrent left-sided weakness. A right thalamic haemorrhage at the site of a previous microbleed was observed on CT scan. An 80-year-old man was diagnosed with lacunar stroke after experiencing sudden dysarthria and right-sided facial weakness. He started receiving aspirin [dosage not stated] for stroke prevention and was hospitalised with sudden worsening of his dysarthria 12 months later. A recent haemorrhage in the left thalamus was evident on MRI; the site corresponded to a previously documented microbleed. Knottnerus ILH, et al.
