Antineoplastics/thalidomide Peripheral neuropathy: 18 case reports Ten women and eight men, aged between 23 and 74 years, developed peripheral neuropathy attributed to chemotherapy with bortezomib (4 patients), vincristine (5), thalidomide (2), oxaliplatin (4), docetaxel, paclitaxel or a combination of carboplatin and paclitaxel (1 patient each) [dosages, routes and duration of treatments to reaction onsets not stated]. Treatment indications included haematological malignancies (multiple myeloma or leukaemia) in eleven patients, gastrointestinal cancer in four patients, breast cancer in two patients and ovarian cancer in one patient. All patients were treated with acupuncture, and peripheral neuropathy improved in 14 patients; symptoms remained unchanged in another three, and one patient died during the acupuncture course.
