Intussusception caused by an intramural haematoma: case report A 73-year-old woman developed small bowel intussusception caused by haematoma during treatment with apixaban for atrial fibrillation. She was hospitalised with radiographic finding of small bowel obstruction. She had been receiving apixaban [dosage and route not stated]. A CT scan revealed small bowel intussusception. Subsequently, she underwent an exploratory laparotomy and the small bowel surgery. Her pathological examination disclosed that the intussusception was secondary to an intramural haematoma [time to reaction onset and outcomes not stated]. Author comment: "This case presents a rare instance of adult intussusception caused by a [direct acting oral anticoagulant]" Santos AP, et al.
