Extrapyramidal symptoms and delirium: case report An adult woman [exact age at reaction onset not stated] developed extrapyramidal symptoms during treatmet with haloperidol and aripiprazole, and delirium during treatment with clozapine for catatonic schizophrenia. The woman presented for discontinuation of electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) at the age of 58 years. Sixteen years previously, she had been diagnosed with catatonic schizophrenia (at the age of around 42 years). For >5 years, she had been undergoing treatment with aripiprazole 7.5 mg/day along with various others drugs and ECT. Additionally, she had been receiving haloperidol and clozapine [routes not stated; not all dosages stated]. However, she developed side-effects in the form of extrapyramidal symptoms secondary to haloperidol and aripiprazole, and delirium secondary to clozapine [durations of treatments to reactions onsets not stated]. In 2019, she was hospitalised (current presentation) with rapid increase of her underlying psychotic symptoms without delirium. She was scheduled for transcranial direct current simulation (tDCS). During hospitalisation, her medications included aripiprazole 30 mg/day along with various other drugs. At the time of tDCS initiation, her medications included oxazepam and tiapride along with other drugs. A significant improvement in her underlying condition was observed with tDCS [not all outcomes of reactions stated]. Wysokinski A.
