Bupivacaine/midazolam Nausea and tremor: 2 case reports Two male heart-transplant recipients, aged 54 years (patient 1) and 50 years (patient 2), underwent spinal anaesthesia for transurethral prostate resection (patient 1) or for excision of a scrotal angiokeratoma (patient 2). Both patients received IV midazolam 1.5mg via a catheter, and intrathecal 0.5% bupivacaine 1.5mL (7.5mg), injected at level L3-4. Intraoperatively, patient 1 experienced tremor (at 13 minutes), and patient 2 developed nausea (at 10 minutes). Fluid resuscitation or cardiotonics were not required.
