Preface
Three reasons inspired the author to write this monograph. The first reason is the obvious drawbacks inherent in the available literature devoted to industrial multiphase fixed-bed technologies. As a rule, the interactions between the physical and chemical phenomena are not comprehensively analyzed although an experienced reader can find a great number of publications where specific features of industrial reactors related to hydrodynamics, kinetics, mass, and heat transfer are described in detail. Additionally, existing books suffer from a lack of the genesis of the technical solutions and, therefore, cannot pronounce the new technological perspectives that may motivate the development of more advanced techniques.
