Aseptic meningitis: case report A 70-year-old woman developed aseptic meningitis after treatment with cytarabine and methotrexate for Philadelphia chromosome-positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Ph1 ALL). The woman, who had a history of Ph1 ALL was started on imatinib and unspecified low-intensity chemotherapy, but the treatment was discontinued due to unspecified infections. She started receiving intrathecal chemotherapy with cytarabine, methotrexate and methylprednisolone, every other day for 2 weeks [dosages not stated]. After 3 injections, she experienced mild headaches. CSF analysis revealed 710 cells/mL majorly consisting of neutrophils. Repetitive microbiological analysis of CSF ruled out the possibility of infectious meningitis. She was diagnosed with aseptic meningitis and was continued on intrathecal chemotherapy. Symptomatic treatment was commenced to manage her headaches. Within 2 weeks, CSF was reported to be normal. Beaumont A-L, et al.
