Abstract( In the era of rapidly changing ubiquitous environment, smart devices have developed and penetrated together with numerous educational applications. Ubiquitous learning enables people to study regardless of time and space in a learning environment of efficient communication between instructors and learners. In this study, for more externally expanded learning activities, a learner-centric teaching-learning application was presented, instead of the teaching-learning process in the actual field of education, and the application was applied to the field. A main program used for this research development is App Inventor tool. It was tested in the field to see if it had any effect on learning motivation. The pre/post-experiment program tests of this study found significant differences in all of the four main learning motivation factors – attention, relevance, confidence and satisfaction. Introduction
Supported by the rapid information-oriented development, e-Learning has been activated so far by means of desktop computer sets to practice learning in the cyber space. However, given the nature of the physical media of desktop PC hardware, learners can study only in a specific place under the temporal and J.-H. spatial limitations [1]. But the recent technological trend has made it possible to realize ubiquitous learning where learners can study anytime anywhere through smart devices. In line with the smart device commercialization and penetration such as smart phones or smart pad, users have quickly adapted to such devices. As study on new teaching-learning paradigm in this ubiquitous era has been actively researched, the quick and wide penetration of smart devices accelerates the development of diversified educational applications appropriate for the new educational environment [2]. In the education area, smart devices are highly useful thanks to their accessibility, mobility, convenience, etc. Indeed, educational applications have been actively developed. As educational contents are frequently accessed in this mobile environment based on mobile devices, naturally, the present physically-limited education framework has moved to the ubiquitous environment converging time and space. In additions, compared to the usual educational practice led by instructors for the most part, education in the ubiquitous environment allows learners to lead own study based on own goals and motivation, realizing a learner-oriented teaching-learning practice. In the modern information-b
