However, this l a y e r w o u l d dissolve, i f i t w e r e c o n t a c t e d by a l i q u i d m i x t u r e w i t h l o w melting p o i n t such as, for example, PbO-PbCla-PbS m i x t u r e ) T h e r a t e of t h e d i s s o l u t i o n w o u l d be v e r y l i k e l y c o n t r o l l e d by the d i f f u s i o n o f i o n s i n the l i q u i d p h a s e . B e c a u s e t h e i o n i c d i f f u s i v i t y is r e l a t e d to t h e e l e c t r i c a l c o n d u c t i v i t y due t o i o n s , c o n d u c t i v i t y m e a s u r e m e n t s s h o u l d be v e r y h e l p f u l i n d e v e l o p i n g a b e t t e r u n d e r s t a n d i n g o f t h e m e c h a n i s m o f hot c o r r o s i o n of a l l o y s by f u s e d s a l t s . When the m i c r o m e e h a n i s m of the t r a n s p o r t of i o n s is s i m i l a r f o r e l e c t r i c a l c o n d u c t i o n a n d t r a c e r diff u s i o n , t h e d i f f u s i v i t y c a n be e s t i m a t e d f r o m t h e c o n ductivity with t h e help of t h e Nernst-Einstein relation; D[r_

R e c e n t l y , G o t o , S a s a b e a n d K a w a k a m i2 h a v e e x t e n s i v e l y e x a m i n e d t h e v a l i d i t y o f t h i s e q u a t i o n on s e v e r a l l i q u i d oxide s y s t e m s o f multicomponents, u s i n g the d a t a o f c o n d u c t i v i t y a n d d i f f u s i v i t y i n l i t e r a t u r e s . T h e r e s u l t i n d i c a t e s t h a t the d i f f u s i v i t y c a n be a p p r o x i m a t e l y e s t i m a t e d f r o m t h e c o n d u c t i v i t y a n d the s p e c i f i c d e n s i t y but w i t h t h e c o r r e c t i o n f a c t o r o f a b o u t 0 . 5 , w h i c h i s t h e a v e r a g e of t h e c o r r e c t i o n f a c t o r s f o r various oxide s y s t e m s .
