Preface

Wireless Body Sensor Networks (WBSNs), which are designed and developed for human body to monitor, manage, and transmit the real-time physiological parameters, have been experiencing ever-increasing deployment in a variety of promising applications, such as medical monitoring, sport activities monitoring, and consumer electronics. On account of the scarce battery capability and realtime requirement in WBSNs, the fundamental problems are to prolong the network lifetime and reduce the transmission delay in WBSNs. These problems are simple to state and intuitively understandable, while of both fundamental and practical importance, and require nontrivial efforts to solve. Therefore, in this book, we present a systematic research on a number of research problems related to energy efficiency and time consumption. Specifically, we address the following problems ranging from theoretical modeling and analysis to practical algorithm design and optimization. • • • •
