I have heard that nobody writes a book alone, and it has certainly been the case with this book. I have to thank many people, without whom I could not have completed this book. First, the members of the Alamogordo Astronomy Club who, for years, listened to my Constellation of the Month presentations upon which this book is based. They paid close attention to each talk, asked thoughtful and pertinent questions, and made suggestions which led to improvements in the final content and format. Next, 13 people from literally around the world contributed astrophotographs and drawings of celestial objects which made the book possible. Each of these has a short biographical sketch and snapshot in Appendix F. Then, Lynn Rice, Co-owner of New Mexico Skies Guest Observatory and a former professional proofreader, who volunteered uncounted hours of her time to read every word of the book, correct my grammatical and typing mistakes, as well as make numerous suggestions for improved wording, changes in content and format which greatly improved the overall result. Finally, but in many ways the most important, my wife Patty, who patiently tolerated my daily retreat to my study, who took over many of the errands and tasks which I had previously done, protected my time from numerous business and social interruptions, listened to my complaints of difficulties, celebrated my little successes along the way, and unfailingly encouraged me to keep me striving until the end.
