Preface
It seems like only yesterday (November 1983) I was introduced to the basic concepts and techniques of limb reconstruction through the pioneering work of Ilizarov. This was only 2 years after Ilizarov first presented his revolutionary ideas to the West on June 12–14, 1981, in Bellagio, Italy. In the 1980s new pioneers from around the world worked through the learning curve of the Ilizarov methods. As we pushed the indica
