With the advent of the new millennium, it became obvious that rapid urbanisation has serious repercussions on the world’s ecosystems. As innovative solutions are needed to confront new challenges, the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University invited renowned international multi-disciplinary keynote speakers, along with researchers and practical exemplars from the fields of architecture and urban planning, to discuss both innovation and technological opportunities and challenges for the built environment.
