Foreword
The first edition of this volume appeared in 2004. Since then, interest in visual double-star observation has increased considerably, and there are now several very active groups around the world. I have taken the opportunity to thoroughly revise the first edition and also to add six new chapters which I hope and believe reflect the increased interest and activity in this subject. Although there is no CD with this edition, the programmes in Chap. 25 will be downloadable from the Springer website (www.extras.springer.com).
