W i t h a l l o y s r i c h in n i c k e l t h e s a m e r e s e a r c h e r s 3 found t h a t t h e a d d i t i o n of c o p p e r to n i c k e l i n c r e a s e s t h e o x y g e n s o l u b i l i t y w h i c h is o p p o s i t e to w h a t m i g h t be e x p e c t e d on t h e b a s i s of n o b i l i t y c o n s i d e r a t i o n a l o n e but p e r h a p s in l i n e w i t h t h e "electron capture" theory cited above. E~g c a l c u l a t e d f r o m the r e s u l t s of F r u e h a n and R i c h a r d s o n 4 n e a r 1200~ i s a b o u t 4.6 w h i c h is l e s s t h a n t h e v a l u e of 13 found in t h i s w o r k . T h e r e i s no e x p l a n a t i o n at t h i s t i m e f o r t h e d i f f e r e n c e .
