Allergic reaction: case report In a study involving 135 patients with perioperative aspiration events reported between 2010 and 2017, a 12-year-old patient [sex not stated] was described, who developed allergic reaction during treatment with rocuronium-bromide. The patient had a significant medical history for developmental delay, cerebral palsy and seizure disorder. Also, the patient had received sevoflurane, following which the patient had developed hypotension. The patient was admitted preoperatively for IV hydration. The patient required cardiopulmonary resuscitation and epinephrine infusion. Subsequently, the patient’s spontaneous circulation returned. The patient was administered rocuronium-bromide [rocuronium; route and dosage not stated]. However, during treatment with rocuronium-bromide, the patient developed allergic reaction [duration of treatment to reaction onset and outcome not stated]. The patient died two weeks after posture with concern for undiagnosed cardiomyopathy. Pfaff KE, et al. Perioperative aspiration events in children: A report from the Wake Up Safe Collaborative.
