M a l i n o c h k a , M a s l e n k o v , a n d E g o s h i n a s m e a s u r e d the s i l i c o n s e g r e g a t i o n i n a few white i r o n s u s i n g electron p r o b e microanalysis. T h e y r e p o r t e d the e x i s t e n c e of a h i g h c o n c e n t r a t i o n of s i l i c o n a t the i n t e r f a c e b e t w e e n the p r i m a r y p h a s e a n d the e u t e c t i c i n h y p o e u t e c t i c a l l o y s , but n o s i l i c o n w a s d e t e c t e d i n the e u t e c t i c c e m e n t i t e . T h e c o n c e n t r a t i o n of s i l i c o n i n the e u t e c t i c c e m e n t i t e h a s b e e n t h e s u b j e c t of c o n t r o v e r s y f o r s o m e t i m e .
