I. E X P E R I M E N T A L The alloys used in this study were cast under argon from oxygen-free copper and spectroscopic grade bismuth and iron, by the Phelps Dodge Copper Co. The three alloys had the bismuth, iron, and residual oxygen levels listed in Table I, as well as a total of 8 ppm of other impurities. Although all three alloys had more oxygen than OFHC copper (typically
