Abstract This review article is based on the scientific investigations of Prof. Mehdi Rashidi during his working years in Shiraz University, Chemistry Department, Organometallic Chemistry Laboratory. Herein, we tried to overlook 40 years of his researches and intend to briefly point out all his publications during his research years. Prof. Rashidi’s researches were mostly focused on the synthesis and characterization of organoplatinum(II) and (IV) complexes having different applications. In this regard, he introduced many synthetic methods for new organoplatinum complexes mostly with the help of NMR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography as characterization techniques. His researches were divided into some main themes like “substitution reactions,” “oxidative addition reactions,” “biological properties” and “photophysical properties” in organoplatinum chemistry. In this review article, the mentioned outlined items are briefly discussed as different areas of research that most of the contents are the outcomes of many Ph.D. and master theses. Besides, all the publications he authored are fully cited in the present review article.
