KawaSaKI | NINjA 650 LAUNCHED IN INDIA; 2013 USA LINE-UP ANNOUNCED 2012 line-uP For usa
Bajaj auto ltd recently launched the 2012 Kawasaki Ninja 650 at an ex-showroom price of ` 5 lakh. the motorcycle is powered by a 650 cc engine developing approximately 70 hp and 66 Nm of torque @ 7,000 rpm. the new Ninja features a light redesign, which lends it a sharper look. the engine features a lower compression ratio of 10.8:1 and is liquid-cooled. Mechanically, there isn’t much difference except a slightly changed suspension set-up. the twin-spar frame has been redesigned and is now smaller with higher tensile strength. Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director, Bajaj auto ltd said, “KtM and Kawasaki are our global business partners and along with them we aim to build on our already dominant position in the sports motorcycle segment in India with the Pulsar. there are a number of initiatives in the pipeline on all these three brands that would be introduced over the next 18 months.” the motorcycle will be available in two colours, lime green and black.
Kawasaki Motors Corp, USa will unveil the 2013 line-up of its Ninja motorcycles on September 13, 2012 at times Square, New York. the new line-up will consist of the ZX-10R, ZX-6R and the Ninja 250R. From an Indian perspective, the Ninja 250R is noteworthy, since the present version is already on sale and the newer version could be launched sometime next year. there is no word from Bajaj auto though on the launch of the 250R. the Ninja 250R features significant changes to the design and mechanicals and now borrows the aggressive styling of the bigger ZX-10R. apart from the sharper fairing, tank and tail section, the exhaust too has been slightly redesigned. the
Ninja 250R is expected to feature an updated parallel-twin engine with new pistons, cylinders and crankcase. the chassis is expected to feature a new design in favour of better dynamics. the other motorcycle to be a part of the 2013 line-up is the ZX-10R, which will feature a new electronic steering damper. the Ohlins damper is claimed to react to change in speed and provide the best suited damping in any situation. the engine too has been re-tuned to offer a more linear power delivery. Kawasaki engineers have updated the chassis to complement the revised nature of the engine. Prices and other technical details for the 2013 line-up, including the ZX-6R will be announced closer to the launch date.
