It is with great enthusiasm and true pleasure that we commend this book to the attention of our colleagues. In high-volume institutions, such as the Pancreas Center in Verona, ultrasonography plays an extremely important role in the study of pancreatic pathologies. This carefully assembled and up-to-date work on the topic will be very useful not only for radiologists but also for gastroenterologists, surgeons, oncologists and intensive care doctors! In many applications, ultrasonography findings are now comparable to the results achieved with multidetector computed tomography (MCT); furthermore, in some specific applications, such as guidance of diagnostic interventional procedures, ultrasonography is preferable to both MCT and magnetic resonance imaging because it is faster, easier and cheaper to carry out.
