Preface

Editing a book is a rewarding experience, but also an endeavor which steals a lot of time—especially your personal time; even more, you can hardly know everything from the beginning and the final outcome is somehow a bet. Consequently, you have to throw yourself wholeheartedly into something which is not completely guaranteed. This is not infrequent in the working life, but it already challenges your motivation. So, when given the opportunity to take up this experience, these, indeed, were our sensations: pride for being given the possibility to coordinate and contribute to such a hot topic as vehicular communications are, but, at the same time, manifold doubts about the contents to include, the authors to invite, their possible acceptance, the possible final result, the targets, and many other initial dilemmas. Then, firstly, we three sat around a table (virtually, since we are at the opposite sides of Italy) and we wondered whether it could be worth writing one more book on vehicular communications—there are already some of them in the market.
