■ Young women in early menopause who receive hormone replacement therapy (HRT) do not appear to have increased risks for cardiovascular disorders, according to a meta-analysis conducted by the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE). This meta-analysis of 23 trials that compared results in women younger than 60 years, or those who have experienced menopause less than 10 years ago, was conducted in the light of several study findings that questioned the safety of HRT. No difference in the incidence of CV disease was observed between the HRT group and the placebo group. According to President of the AACE, Dr Richard Hellman, "we can now say with good confidence that this therapy is very safe for women under 60, or who have recently experienced menopause". American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists. AACE Analysis Shows No Excess Cardiovascular Risk from Hormone Replacement Therapy for Most Patients. Media Release : 2 Jan 2008.
