Foreword

Historically, nuclear medicine emerged at the end of the nineteenth century. Henri Becquerel and Marie Curie discovered the mysterious rays of uranium and named them radioactivity. From the middle of the last century, the production and application of pharmaceuticals and diagnostic tests developed seriously. During the last decades, imaging by the new developed camera systems such as the single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) camera and the positron emission tomography (PET) camera, both in the last years often combined with computed tomography (CT) and/or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), opened new perspectives in the contribution of nuclear medicine
