Abstract The main purpose of research is to investigate questions with value to people (e.g., patients/clients, users of technology), professions, and society at large. Our goal is to test a theory, to elucidate relationships between ideas (e.g., concepts, events), and to contribute to developing knowledge in a field or study. JTiBS “Research in Technology and Behavioral Sciences” is a step toward participating in these processes, as well as a meeting place to discuss ideas. It is meant to complement our authors’ original research and special editions. JTiBS embraces research at the intersection of human behavior, use of technology, and healthcare. We hope this is stimulating good exercise for our minds and a chance to learn about our professions. JTiBS publishes a variety of methodologies (e.g., surveys and questionnaires, randomized controlled trials, direct observation, descriptive methods, laboratory and field experiments, economic analyses, project and program studies, ethnographic analysis, and other studies). If we are not taking action by reading, asking questions, discussing ideas, and researching key questions, we are probably falling behind in today’s world. As we begin to understand issues, we can also increase public awareness and advocate for people and meaningful causes. Keywords Behavioral . Effectiveness . Research . Technology . Telehealth

Introduction Telehealth facilitates patient-centered practices for quality, affordable, and accessible/timely care to diverse populations in behavioral health, primary care, and other settings (Hilty et al. 2020b). Technology-facilitated solutions can also increase and maximize capacity of a system’s workforce to improve clinical workflow. The terms synchronous telepsychiatry (TP) or telebehavioral health (TBH) are commonly used for video services for diagnosis, assessment/testing, consultation, and a range of treatments. Video and other technologies facilitate quality care with continuity across healthcare settings, via e-platforms, a variety of models of care, interprofessional teams, and organizational leadership. are called upon by patients and systems to work with arrange of technologies (e.g., mobile health, apps, text, wearable sensors) and therefore have versatile skillsets and attitudes while ensuring a therapeutic relationship and clear, private, and secure communication. Research on video and telephone is more substantial that with mobile health, wearable sensors, and other asynchronous technologies (Hilty et al. 2020b). Contemporary research evaluates models of care (e.g., integ
