Acknowledgements

The idea behind Soviet health care in comparative perspective emerged from a conversation with Susan Gross Solomon in Toronto in 2011. Three years later scholars from North America, the United Kingdom, and Ireland met in Dublin in May 2014 for a workshop generously funded by the Wellcome Trust, University College Dublin, and the Irish Research Council/Marie Curie.
