At the 30th SETAC Europe annual meeting, virtual Scientific Conference 3–7 May 2020, N. Mirabella received the SETAC Europe Young Scientist LCA Award 2020. Nadia is a PhD researcher and an environmental engineer by formation. She obtained her first MSc degree in 2010 (Politecnico di Milano), soon followed by master’s diploma in communication of science and sustainable innovation (2013).
The SETAC Europe LCA Steering Committee recognizes Nadia for her efforts in the development and application of an LCA-based approach to assess environmental impacts at urban scale. Nadia has demonstrated her abilities, qualities, and passion to be an excellent LCA researcher. She has started to work with LCA during her MSc graduation project, and since then, she continuously developed and improved her skills. Throughout her work, Nadia has successfully applied these in several research projects: in particular, she is an author of numerous publications, cited over 700 times. More recently, Nadia is engaged in finalizing an ambitious PhD project, focused on the development and application of an LCA-based approach to assess environmental impacts at urban scale, namely, City Environmental Footprint (City EF). The City EF offers high potential for more and improved environmental assessment on level of a society which is Communicated by Matthias Finkbeiner * Joost Dewaele [email protected] 1

shifting more and more to urbanization. Therefore, she is working on a relevant topic for the LCA community. In this regard, she has framed proposals for methodological improvements and advancements that will likely stimulate a fruitful debate and future research in the topic. Nadia is the well-deserved winner of the 2020 SETAC Europe Young Scientist LCA Award. With this, we congratulate Nadia with the award, the work already done, and wish her a successful continuation in her further research. SETAC Europe Young Scientist LCA Award is sponsored by Lenzing AG (https://www.lenzing.com) and Springer Verlag (http://www.springer.com).
