Abstract Rockburst induced by large fault and hard roof in multi-seam mining is a common problem in underground mining. In this paper, the rule of rockburst is analyzed from three aspects: influence distance of fault structure, spatial structure under the influence of faults, spatial structure of overburden and mutual disturbance of multi-layer hard roof. According to the microseismic monitoring data of the rockburst accident in working face named LW62184, the hard rock strata which have the main impact on the rockburst risk are determined. The comprehensive control work of rockburst is carried out from four aspects: weakening dynamic load, reducing static load, upgrade support strength, and improving the monitoring and warning of rockburst. According to these principles, the prevention and control measures of rockburst have been carried out in the field, which has good effect and is of great significance for reference. 1 Introduction With the increase of mining depth, the mine rockburst disaster is becoming more and more serious; the frequency of occurrence is more and more high; and the damage caused is more and more serious. When the rockburst occurs, the accumulated elastic energy in the coal-rock mass can be released in a very short time. The fractured coal-rock mass will be thrown into the free space, which will seriously damage the equipment in the mine and endanger the underground workers. It may cause gas explosion, coal dust explosion, fire, flood and other mine disasters at the same time. Rockburst has become one of the most important disasters which threaten the safety of coal mine production. The induced factors of rockburst disaster are complex and diverse. In terms of the occurrence mechanism of rockburst under the conditions of thick and hard roof, geological structure and island mining, scholars in various countries have made a lot of research and achieved some valuable results. There are one-third of coal seams under hard roof in China, and the coal mines distributed in more than 50% of the mining areas (Pang 2013), such as, Hegang Mining Area, Shuangyashan Mining Area, Yanzhou mining area, Yima mining area, etc. It can be concluded that the dynamic disaster induced by large fault and hard roof is widespread.
