Terbinafine Ageusia: case report A 63-year-old man, who had been receiving terbinafine 250 mg/day [route not stated] for suspected onychomycosis for 2 months, presented with a 15-day history of sudden loss of taste. As terbinafine was his only new medication at onset of ageusia, terbinafine was discontinued. His taste function improved over the next few weeks. After 1 month follow-up, his sweet taste had completely recovered, his sour and salty tastes had recovered 50%, but his bitter taste remained absent. Author comment: "The temporal association of taste loss on starting terbinafine and its recovery on stopping the drug suggests that reversible ageusia in our patient was induced by terbinafine."
