This is an important book that deals with vitally significant ideas and issues. It is always challenging to engage in the uncertain endeavor of identifying the key issues that face society today but surely it is obvious to assert that we need urgently now to develop our understanding of toleration. We all need to think better and to act more humanely in society generally and particularly in education. At a time when there is armed conflict in the Middle East, massive increases in the numbers of refugees and asylum seekers, large migrations associated with globalization, and increasingly negative nationalistic tendencies surely we need to renew our commitment to toleration. This book helps us meet this need admirably.
