UPCOMING CONFERENCES

4th World Congress on Microwave and rf Applications to be Held in November The Microwave Working Group (MWG) is organizing its 4th World Congress on Microwave and Radio Frequency Applications to be held in Austin, Texas, November 7–12, 2004, in conjunction with the annual meeting of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE). The technical program will include concurrent sessions encompassing areas of microwave (MW) and radio frequency (rf) research and development, as well as sessions on industrial applications. There will also be pre-meeting short courses

and a technology fair focusing on MW applications in conjunction with AIChE’s equipment and technology exhibit. Session topics include: J Materials processing of ceramics, polymers, glass and minerals J Waste processing and remediation J Semiconductor and microelectronics fabrication J MW and rf applications: case histories J Systems architecture and design J Application economics and productivity J Organic chemistry J Inorganic chemistry

J Biochemistry and biomedical applications J Dielectric property measurements and techniques J Modeling and material interactions J Plasma processing J Safety, bioeffects, and regulatory issues J MW processing in single-mode cavities. The conference is endorsed by numerous associations, including the Materials Research Society and the American Ceramic Society.
