ABSTRACT According to the situation recognition of a basic limit of electronics expansion in silicon planar technology, one proposal based on a new technology completely different from planar structure is done here. The new concept of the technology is “textile structure” for integrated optoelectronic circuit. The background of the new concept is shown from some historical view point. The concept is also discussed as an opto-electronic united circuit and a “Clothes” level system from application-view point. Characteristics and elemental technology of the textile hybrid system are considered for future development of this concept. Several concrete compositions and characteristics of the proposed system are compared with those of present technology to construct a new electronics system. This proposal is also discussed in flexible electronics concept.
INTRODUCTION Though the invention of the transistor is an origin of the semiconductor electronics, we should say that a base of the development of semiconductor technology was established by the invention of planar technology. Thus, it can be said that the exponential expansion of electronics during half a century afterwards was achieved on the base of “Surface and plane” technology of the semiconductor crystal. On the new century, now, it is forecasted that we are faced with physical limits of Moor’s Law within the several years[1]. This is a big difficulty that we have not met. In a general situation view, we are now in groping for a new method. We need new idea, new concept, new technology-style, new structure of systems, to support human all controlling gigantic flow of information and energy for higher activity of human being. In order to have these macro-scale prospect, we should learn individual methodology from some examples in modern history of electronics, such as, (1) a concept of field effect device following an idea of solid state amplifier those were induced by Shokley’s situation recognition which come from Kellys opinion about the potential demand of new electronic switchboard in communication system, (2) two ways of historical developing process from Dummer’s idea that was presented at the Electric Components Conference in 1952 as a possibility of electronic solid-

block without wiring to the “molectronics concept” of US Air Force and “solid-state-circuit concept ” of Kilby[2,3]. The present situation needs basic ideas and proposals about the structure of microelectronics to bring a paradigm change.
