A New Study Group of the ICTV A Study Group on Unclassified Vertebrate and Hematophagous Arthropod-borne Viruses has been formed within the Vertebrate Virus Subcommittee of ICTV. The members are C. H. Calisher (Colorado State University, Fort Collins, CO, USA, Chairman), J.P. Digoutte (Instimt Pasteur, Dakar, Senegal), M.C. Horzinek (Utrecht University, The Netherlands), O.-R. Kaaden (Ludwig-Maximilians-University, Munich, Germany), B. W. J. Mahy (Centers for Disease Control, Atlanta, GA, USA), M. Mayo (Scottish Crop Research Institute, Dundee, Scotland), F. A. Murphy (University of California, Davis, CA, USA), R. E. Shope (Yale University, New Haven, CT, USA), and A. P. A. Travassos da Rosa (Instituto Evandro Chagas, Belem, BrasiI). The objectives of this Study Group are to review information about unclassified viruses (except Borna and African swine fever viruses, which already are in competem hands), and, when sufficient data are available, to recommend taxon placement.
