About the Authors Winfried Ruigrok is a professor of International Management and the Academic Director of the MBA-programme at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland. His research and main publications focus on corporate governance, management of diversity, and internationalisation and restructuring strategy. He has previously held positions at Warwick Business School, Erasmus University/Rotterdam School of Management and the European Union. Simon Peck is an assistant professor of Business Policy at the Weatherhead School of Management, Case Western Reserve University, USA. He has previously worked at Warwick Business School, and City University Business School, London and at the University of St Gallen in Switzerland. His research focuses on the efficacy of internal corporate governance mechanisms, and in particular the issue of the relationships between the board of directors, executive compensation and corporate performance. He has published a number of academic articles in this area in outlets such as the Academy of Management Journal and the Strategic Management Journal. Sabina Tacheva is a doctoral candidate at the Research Institute for International Management at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland. She is currently a visiting scholar at the University of Washington, Seattle, USA. Her research interests include the composition, dynamics and effects of top management teams and boards as well as diversity and group dynamics at lower organisational levels. Peder Greve is a doctoral candidate at the Research Institute for International Management at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland. His main research interests are the processes and dynamics of firm internationalisation and the roles and capabilities of top management teams and boards. Yan Hu is a doctoral candidate at the Research Institute for International Management at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland. Her research interests include board committees, team diversity and interorganisational learning. Antti Kauhanen, M.Sc in economics at the Helsinki School of Economics, is researcher at the Department of Economics, Helsinki School of Economics, Finland. His present research focuses on econometric case studies of innovative work practices and their impact on both firms and employees.

Hannu Piekkola, Ph.D. degree at the University of Helsinki, is Head of Unit at the Research Institute of the Finnish Economy with specialisation on the labour market. His current research interests include technological change, retirement, and wage incentives. Main publications include 9 articles on taxation, labour markets and wage incentives, and editing a book on collective bargaining. Yoser Gadhoum, Ph.D. from Laval University, is a Professor of Finance at the University of Quebec in Montre´al, ESG. He has received four international honours and wined the award of the Best Ph.D Dissertation in Canada in 1995.
