Dear Reader, Once again we’ve reached the final issue of the year for Drugs & Aging and we hope that you have found the articles published throughout 2007 both interesting and informative. The editor and publishing staff have appreciated the high quality of content contributed to the journal this year and the forward programme for 2008 looks set to build upon these standards as we continue to keep you up-to-date with topical issues in the field of gerontology. We are also pleased to advise you of a number of important developments to affect the Wolters Kluwer Health | Adis journals’ portfolio in 2007. This year saw the implementation of our manuscript tracking system Editorial Manager™, which has streamlined the publishing process for authors, reviewers and editors alike. The new system can be accessed at http://www.editorialmanager.com/adis/default.asp and we invite you to use it when submitting your manuscripts to Drugs & Aging in the future. The year has brought further recognition of the quality of a number of our titles, with new ISI impact factors reflecting our global standing. Sports Medicine, our premier sports medicine review journal, was ranked number one in the Sports Science category, with an impact factor of 3.504. Also worthy of mention, Drugs increased its impact factor to 4.472, CNS Drugs increased to 4.210, Drug Safety to 3.673 and BioDrugs to 2.768. We would like to draw your attention to some of the most significant content published in 2007. These articles reflect important collaborations with leading scientists from both academia and industry. Drug Safety published Guidelines for Submitting Adverse Event Reports for Publication, an important collaborative effort between the journal staff and the International Societies of Pharmacoepidemiology (ISPE) and Pharmacovigilance (ISoP). Sports Medicine was selected to publish the proceedings of the 2006 World Congress on the Science and Medicine of the Marathon and the International Journal of Pharmaceutical Medicine worked in tandem with the European Forum for Good Clinical Practice to produce the first comprehensive report on The Procedure for the Ethical Review of Protocols for Clinical Research Projects in the European Union. We are also pleased to announce the launch of a new title in the Adis portfolio. The Patient: Patient-Centered Outcomes Research is to be published in collaboration with Johns Hopkins School of Public Health and has been hailed as a ground-breaking medical journal that puts the spotlight on patient-centred medicine. The Patient will consider original research (clinical trials, observational studies, surveys and methodological contributions), reviews, current opinion and correspondence from individuals, societies and stakeholders. Further information about the new journal can be found at http://thepatient.adisonline.com. Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all the authors who have contributed articles to Drugs & Aging over the last 12
