ACKNOWLEDGMENT

Adis ยช 2012 Springer International Publishing AG. All rights reserved.

Dear Reader As we reach the final issue of The Patient for 2012, we hope that you have found the articles published throughout the year to be interesting and informative. The editors and publishing staff have appreciated the high quality of content contributed to the journal and this was recognized by Thomson Reuters awarding The Patient its first impact factor in 2012. Other titles in the Adis health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) portfolio also continue to go from strength to strength. PharmacoEconomics, the flagship of the portfolio, retained its position in 2012 as a leading HEOR journal. Applied Health Economics and Health Policy continues to strengthen itself as the primary venue for rapid publication of HEOR papers, particularly those focused on devices and diagnostics. Following the acquisition of the Adis journals at the end of last year by Springer Science+Business Media, we have been working to transition the production and fulfillment of the Adis journals into Springer processes. This integration will be complete by the end of 2012, such that production and delivery of all Adis journals will be fully transitioned for the first issues of 2013. Adis journal content will be available on a new, improved online platform. We aim to seamlessly transfer all existing subscribers so their access is unaffected and we will be in regular communication with subscribers as we go through this transition. We are pleased that Springer has decided to keep the Adis brand and recognizes the core values that the brand represents. We are confident that the association with Springer will lead to increased awareness and usage of Adis content, further driving impact factors and recognition. Collectively, we feel that the future for Adis looks bright and we are happy with the acquisition by Springer. We would like to say a big thank you to all the authors who have contributed articles to The Patient in the last 12 months. Without their hard work and diligence we would not have been able to publish the journal. The quality of published articles also reflects the significant time and effort dedicated by the peer reviewers, who ensure that we continue to publish content of the highest possible standard. In addition to the members of our Honorary Editorial Board, we would like to thank the following individuals who acted as referees for articles in The Patient in 2012: Carmen Almendros, Spain Kathy Beusterien, USA Christiane Bieber, Germany Laurent Boyer, France Kevin Bozic, USA Michaela Coenen, Germany Linda S. Deal, USA
