the fourth-quarterissue as well as the four articles on Professional Lives in InternationalBusiness. Table 1 also shows the numberof pages published each year and the averagepage length per article. In each of JIBS' first three years, the total number of pages per year did not reach 200, which was less than 100 per issue. Since 1992, over 800 pages per year, or about200 per issue have been published. Despite the substantialincrease in the numberof pages and the associated rise in printing and postage costs, the cost of membership in the Academy of InternationalBusiness (AIB)-which includes a JIBS subscription-hasrisen less than the U.S. ConsumerPrice Index. As well, the institutionalprice of JIBS has been maintainedat or near the individualprice. The increase in page length can be attributedto two main factors. One, as theLB field has matured, researchmethodologies have become more

rigorous and, consequently, must be explained in greaterdetail. Two, the theoretical foundations for IB papers must be more comprehensive than in the past because there is a much greaterbody of literature. With the enforcementof the thirty-pagedouble-spacedguideline (each double-spacedtypewrittenpage equals about .7 of a journal page), page length is not expected to increase in the next few years. METHODOLOGY Our objective was to focus on JIBS articles that involved research issues. Thus, the first step in the analysis was to ensure that all the articles examined were research articles. This resulted in the elimination of several articles written by JIBS editors
