Delayed healing of recurrent abdominal wall: case report A 74-year-old man experienced delayed healing of recurrent abdominal wall while receiving the treatment with bevacizumab for recurrent tumour in the abdominal wall. The man, who had a history internal carotid artery stenosis, high BP and dyslipidemia was diagnosed with cecal cancer in 2016. Therefore, he underwent laparoscopic-assisted ileocecal resection, D3 dissection and received adjuvant chemotherapy with capecitabine and oxaliplatin (CapeOX). At 1 year and 10 months following surgery, abdominal CT revealed a recurrent mass in the abdominal wall. Thus, he started receiving treatment with CapeOX and bevacizumab [route and dosage not stated]. Following the 8th course of bevacizumab therapy, he developed fresh bloody stools, thus he was admitted to a hospital. Examination of abdomen showed, a small incision of approximately 5cm in the navel on the left side. Abdominal and pelvic contrast CT scan revealed that, a recurrent abdominal wall mass had invaded part of the small intestinal wall. He started receiving conservative treatment and his gastrointestinal bleeding improved, and ingestion was started. Therefore, he was discharged from the hospital. Subsequently, to prevent GI bleeding or bowel obstruction, a surgery was carried out after a 6 week withdrawal period from the final chemotherapy. Post-operation he had abdominal swelling due to the abdominal wall separation. From the clinical correlation he was diagnosed with bevacizumab associated delayed healing of recurrent abdominal wall mass. Therefore, he received antibacterial treatment and underwent negative pressure wound therapy. Eventually, his wound was healed.
