Bevacizumab Metrorrhagia following intravitreal injection: case report A 35-year-old woman with branch retinal occlusion and disc neovascularisation received an intravitreal injection of bevacizumab 0.1mL (2.5mg). After 2 weeks, she reported metrorrhagia for 10 days, which was not associated with her menstrual cycle. Complete systemic, gynaecological and coagulopathy work-up showed no abnormalities. Her metrorrhagia was successfully treated with curettage and IM methylergometrin. Author comment: "The absence of hormonal and anatomical uterine dysfunction in our patient raises the possibility that [antivascular endothelial growth factor] inhibition by systematically absorbed bevacizumab yielded the uterine haemorrhage."
